Fashion Show Fundraiser Supports Guardians of Healing
More than 400 people enjoyed a special fashion show and dinner fundraising event at Fiesta Restaurant in East Rutherford to support Guardians of Healing, a non-profit organization of local doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals who perform medical missions in the Dominican Republic and other countries in need of medical support services.
The Fashion Show, which was presented by lead sponsor Palisades Medical Center, raised more than $32,000 to support Guardians of Healing.
Founded in 2007, Guardians of Healing has completed four medical missions in the Dominican Republic and recently went to Haiti to help victims of the tragic earthquake. To date, the group's volunteers have treated more than 6,000 patients throughout Latin America, and they are scheduled to return to the Dominican Republic/Haiti border in May to provide additional medical, surgical and dental care. Guardians of Healing also donate medical equipment and supplies to area hospitals and clinics.
